using SQL Excel from VBA ? 7 Months ago Karma: 1
Hi All

Am putting up a new post here to see what people think of using the add-in from vba?

This was not part of the original idea but it is a good idea that Roland brought up the other day. Roland is going to see if he can use the sql excel in his addin - DBAddin.

For SQL Excel, as a prototype for this, I added in 3 functions (in the development version) that are accessible publiczlly. These are shown below and should be available for your use in the nex release..

If anyone has any ideas, it would be great if you could come back on this.

Thanks to Roland for bringing this whole area up. Thanks, Al

Actually i wouldn't know exactly why i would need it, except that you can configure the queries in VBA and run it from there. This means updating the queries automatically is an option now.
But, if im not wrong, it looks like you still have to work with the main window of the plugin. In that case i don't see the benefit from it. Can you give an example where it would be handy?

Hi Blitzoff !!

Nice to see you again ! I hope you are doing great.

For this functionality, the basic idea behind this is to enable other uses to access main form if they need a simple enough SQL entry form in there office add-in. So you understood it correctly...

The original idea came from Roland and he is integrating the form into his addin - DB Addin. I didnt get a chance to use it yet but am planning to use it over the weekend. But I think the idea is very good. I think this functionality will be more useful too when the form can do more things that at the moment. But that will take time to implament

Hope this makes sense !) Also, maybe Roland will chime in on this is if wants..

Other thing, you original requests are getting to the top of the list now... I am sorry for taking so long to implement them. Hopefully in two weeks we will have your main items in...

Thanks very much for all the help Blitzoff !!!

Al
