slowness when importing data to certain workbooks 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 2
Hello Sir,

The addin is working well in general and thanks for sharing it. However, I am experiencing some slowness when trying to import records to certain excel worksbooks and am wondering if you can help trying to narrow this problem down.

If I import to an empty workbook the import only takes approximately one second however when I import in certain production workbooks, it can take 10 seconds or more. I am wondering what might cause such behaviour. I have tried to remove all custom formatting as someone told me this might cause this but this had no impact. I have also removed all workbook links to other workbooks and this did not help.

I am using Excel 2003 on Windows XP and am importing from an Access database.

Please let me know.

John

Hi

Thanks for the feedback.

Sounds like you are on the right track to figure it out. It is very possible there is something in the workbook that is corrupted.
I would suggest that you recreate a clone of the workbook from scratch. Basically, cut and paste each worksheet out of the workbook into a brand new empty workbook. Then if you have any VBA modules or any references (in the visual basic editor) you would need to paste them in too. You could export any vba forms, modules etc out and then import them into the new version of the workbook.

I would try that first to see if this fixes the problem. Please let me know how it goes and I will do my best to help out.

Thanks, Al

Hello again

Appreciate the advice sir.

I did go through the recreation process as suggested and this would have appear to have resolved the slow behaviour.

I have been using the add-in for the past week and must admit it is very useful. Keep up the quality work.
