How to embed a SQL query into a worksheet using SQL Excel (Flash Demo) Print E-mail
Saturday, 07 June 2008

This a short video clip of how to use SQL Excel to embed a SQL query into an Excel worksheet.  At the end of the video clip, there is a quick demo of the last 3 buttons of the SQL Excel toolbar.  The last 3 buttons are just support related but it is still useful to use them sometimes.

One thing to note is that the current version of the add-in, just creates a way to create the embedded queries within a workbook. Once created, the embedded queries have no dependency on the add-in. So you can create a database linked spreadsheet and then send it to a user that does not have the add-in. If you are going to do this you need to check that the user is setup to be able to connect to the database (same as you would have to do with a database linked spreadsheet set up with MS Query).

The example connects to the northwind example database.

The video content below requires a Macromedia Flash Player.  If you don't have one and still wish to see the video, you can download the latest version of the free Flash Player  here.

If something is not clear with this demo, please let me know. I wil be uploading more videos like this as I can. Thanks, Al
