How to Setup up a connection to SQL Server (Flash demo) Print E-mail
Monday, 12 May 2008

This a short video clip of how to use SQL Excel to setup a connection to SQL Server. The example connects to the northwind example database using windows authentication on a local server but the process is the same one for remote databases or other database provider types.

One other thing is that you can setup your connection manually by typing (or pasting) in a connection string. But the easy way is to use the Data Link form. When using the Data Link form, it is a very good idea to use the "Test" button so you know there is no problem with the connection.

The video content below requires a Macromedia Flash Player.  If you don't have one and still wish to see the video, you can download the latest version of the free Flash Player  here.

If something is not clear with this demo, please let me know. I wil be uploading more videos like this as I can. Thanks, Al
