First of all, thanks for such a cool add-in. And freeware too! It's hard to find a working freeware when it comes to database stuff ..

OK some suggestions:
  • Allow queries to be cancelled
  • Allow results to be limited to some number of rows
  • A scheduler would be nice ...

Hi Ai-chan,

I am working on a major release which will hopefully out soon and should be way better. Thanks for the suggestions. Thats how the tool can get very good by feedback like this.

Your first two points are added to the to do list - thanks.

For the limiting the number of rows - I will add something so that it is possible to preview a limited number of rows in the preview grid. This way the form will load much faster. At the moment, you could limit the rows by using SQL statements - LIMIT say in Mysql or TOP in SQL Server.

For the cancelation that will be great too and I will add it in (SQL execution routine will go in seperate thread so it can be stopped..)

For the scheduler it will be good too. But there are very good schedulers available and for now I just think it is good to concentrate on the stuff more closely related to Excel - and simple importation of data. When all the more basic stuff is in we can come back to it though.

Also, as a general note, the preview functionality on the SQL form still does not work. This was due to s problem that occured on Vista machines where some grid control OCX files were not behaving normally. It will be back with the upcoming release... Am testing these days when I have time

Thanks very much. Have a good day there,
Al
